The Syracuse Orange officially have their first new player who will be joining the program, and it’s an addition who is coming from across the Atlantic Ocean.
Mark Morano Mahmutovič, a six-foot-seven wing known for his outside shooting and scoring pop, is committing to the Orange. Jonathan Givony of Draft Express was the first to report.
Givony described Mahmutovič, who last played for Helios Suns Domzale in Serbia, as “one of the top 2006-born European prospects.”
With Helios Suns Domzale, a professional basketball club, Mahmutovič averaged 13.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 31.4 minutes per game in 21 contests. Mahmutovič shot 57% from the field, 50% from three, and 71% from the foul line.
He was also one of the top players for KK Cedevita Olimpija Junior, where he was second in scoring and top-five in several other statistical categories.
Mahmutovič previously performed well on the world stage during the 2025 FIBA U18 EuroBasket Tournament. Playing for the Slovenian national team, he averaged a team-high 20.1 points, shooting 60% from the field and almost 49% from three.
Mahmutovič becomes the first addition to new head coach Gerry McNamara’s roster. We’ll continue to update you as more news is released.
The transfer portal opens up officially on Tuesday.
