The Syracuse Orange continue to finalize the additions from the transfer portal this offseason. Steve Wilfong from On3 reported that Western Kentucky tight end Noah Meyers has committed to the Orange. The Louisville, Kentucky native will have two years of eligibility left.
Meyers only played three games in 2023, his freshman year to give him a redshirt. He featured in eight games in 2024 and 11 games in 2025. In his 19 games with the Hilltoppers, Meyers recorded 480 receiving yards on 39 receptions
with four touchdowns. His 357 receiving yards in 2025 ranked him fourth on Western Kentucky and his three touchdowns tied him for second on the team.
Meyers’ addition to the Orange comes at an interesting time. Syracuse had previously signed a tight end from the transfer portal in South Carolina’s Michael Smith. However, recent reports have stated that Smith is looking to return to South Carolina, despite having signed the paperwork already to join the Orange.
Syracuse’s tight end room also is in an interesting spot. The Orange won’t have graduating redshirt senior Dan Villari, who ranked third on the team in receiving yards with 412. Chase Simmons entered the transfer portal, but he was mainly used on the defensive line and only appeared as a blocking tight end early in the season. Jamie Tremble is still listed as a tight end and linebacker, but featured more on the defensive side of the ball as the season progressed.
Meyers becomes the third Western Kentucky player to join the Orange from the transfer portal this offseason. Western Kentucky defensive backs Nazir Ward and Jai Eugene Jr. are the other Hilltoppers to make their way north to Central New York.
Should Smith stay with the Orange, Meyers would become the 19th player to commit to Syracuse from the transfer portal. Boise State/Glendale CC wide receiver Zamondre Merriweather, South Carolina tight end Michael Smith, LSU running back Ju’Juan Johnson, Miami (OH) wide receiver Cole Weaver, Jackson State running back Ahmad Miller, Georgia State defensive tackle Jartavius Flounoy, Toledo linebacker Chris D’Appolonia, Florida State wide receiver Elijah Moore, UT Martin edge rusher Keyshawn Johnson, Maryland defensive lineman Dillan Fontus, Kennesaw State quarterback Amari Odom, Toledo defensive back Amare Snowden, Penn State wide receiver Matthew Outten, UCLA offensive lineman Oluwafunto Akinshilo and Georgetown quarterback Danny Lauter are the Orange additions from the transfer portal.
The transfer portal closes today, January 16. Players can no longer enter for transfer consideration after today unless a head coaching change is made. Any players that are in the portal can still sign and commit to new schools. Players looking to join Syracuse will have to sign and enroll in classes by January 21, which is the add deadline, in order to be eligible to participate in spring practice with the team.
