Ole Miss baseball hits the road this week for a three game series in Gainesville against the No. 21 Florida Gators looking for a couple upsets to get its season back on track.
The Rebels (20-10, 3-6 SEC) need a series win in the worst kind of way after being swept by in-state rival Mississippi State last weekend. A midweek win over Little Rock at least stopped a four game losing streak, but conference wins look to be at a premium given its offensive struggles.
Florida (23-7, 6-3 SEC) has stubbed its
toe a few times this year with a series loss to High Point, being swept by Alabama, and non-conference losses to UAB and Jacksonville on its resume. However, the Gators swept both South Carolina and Arkansas in a very Jekyll/Hyde sort of fashion.
PROJECTED PITCHING MATCHUPS
- Thursday, 5:30 p.m. CT: RHP Taylor Rabe (3-1, 2.61 ERA) vs. RHP Liam Peterson (1-1, 3.67 ERA)
- Friday, 5:30 p.m. CT: LHP Hunter Elliott (3-0, 3.72 ERA) vs. RHP Aidan King (3-2, 1.97 ERA)
- Saturday, 6:30 p.m. CT: RHP Cade Townsend (2-1, 1.90 ERA) vs. RHP Russell Sandefer (2-1, 4.24 ERA)
Head coach Mike Bianco switched up the starting rotation for this weekend moving Taylor Rabe into the first game role and slotting Hunter Elliott and Cade Townsend into second and third game position. This may be more of a move to keep Elliott and Townsend on schedule for bullpen and keeping arms right for the rest of the season.
Every game will be streamed on SEC Network+ and can be watched on the ESPN app.
