It’s a great day to root for old friends Jim Harbaugh and Mike McDaniel, as they try to save their season playing against the defending champion Seattle Seahawks. It’s also a great day to root for the NFC East, given that the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants are playing against the Los Angeles Rams and the Arizona Cardinals. But more than anything, it’s the best day to root for the San Francisco 49ers. They put themselves in this position of having all the wind at their back, as they go up
against their biggest challenge yet.
49ers’ Kyle Shanahan reveals unexpected reason why he called hook-and-lateral against Cardinals
“There’s not much of a rhyme or reason when it comes to hook and lateral,” Shanahan said. “You just hope everyone pays attention to one guy and see if you can sneak him around….It’s more just like a screw-it play,” Shanahan said. “Let’s just see what happens because we’re in a bad situation. Let’s just see if we can get a cheap one on them.”
49ers’ 3-0 start inspires questions. Broncos can provide answers Sunday (paywall)
“Welcome back, Talanoa Hufanga: Did you enjoy that subtle pregame shot?
Kittle was complimentary of his “instinctual” ex-teammate, but he also noted the Broncos safety can get burned.
“He’s going to guess right once in a while,” Kittle said, “but he also guesses wrong.”
NFL fines 49ers star Fred Warner twice for unnecessary roughness vs. Cardinals
“Warner was fined for a “hip drop tackle” in the fourth quarter against McBride. That play, which was not penalized at the time, brought a fine of $17,911 for Warner. Those were the first two fines of the season for Warner.”
Matthew Judon will make his debut with the 49ers in Week 4
“Defensive coordinator Raheem Morris is choosing someone he has experience with at the position. Edge rusher Matthew Judon was elevated from the practice squad. Romello Height and Keion White were limited in practice on Friday.”
