The New York Jets are 1-2, and that stinks, but I have something to cheer you up. Geno Smith is delivering a level of quarterback play that we have literally never seen before.
It probably isn’t getting attention from the rest of the NFL because of the Jets’ not-so-great record, but it totally deserves more love from anyone who watches the sport.
“As far as I can tell, Geno Smith is the first Jets QB to EVER open the first three games of a season with 700+ passing yards 4+ TDs 0 interceptions 70% completions,”
Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic wrote.
Smith currently leads the league in completion percentage (75.5%) and is top-five in quarterback rating this season. It’s a shame that we’re 1-2 because no one could have predicted that we’d get this insane Smith renaissance season in 2026.
Smith has been efficient, has been protective of the football (only one turnover through three games), and is starting to click with his array of playmakers.
Jets fans, we are freaking scoring points. The rushing attack admittedly leaves much to be desired right now, which is super disappointing, BUT the Jets are 13th in offensive yards per game, 11th in passing yards per game, and 17th in scoring.
The good news is it should only continue to get better. There are several players on offense that we’re waiting to return to the lineup, and as this unit plays more together, they will continue to gel.
Appreciate it, Jets fans; we don’t get this every year, that’s for sure.
