Miami Dolphins rookie general manager — Jon-Eric Sullivan — has stayed busy churning the bottom of the roster during his first season in charge of the club. On Thursday, Sullivan signed a new player to Miami’s practice squad while releasing another.
EDGE Amari Gainer was signed. To make room for Gainer, defensive lineman Keith Cooper Jr. was released.
Gainer — 26 years old — was with the Dolphins’ practice squad earlier last month. Originally an undrafted free agent signing of the Raiders following
the 2024 NFL Draft, Gainer played in 17 games for Las Vegas that year, totaling five tackles on special teams. In 2025, he spent time with both the Raiders and the New England Patriots — on each teams’ practice squad.
The 6’3”, 240 lb defender spent six years in college — five with Florida State and one with North Carolina. He finished his college career with 237 tackles (115 solo), 8.5 sacks, 25.0 tackles for loss, four passes defensed, six forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
We will continue to keep you updated on all things Miami Dolphins as the team prepares to welcome the Cincinnati Bengals to Hard Rock Stadium this Sunday.
