Training camp for the 2026 Seattle Seahawks is now underway. Because of this, it is prediction time around NFL circles. Around the league, it is believed that the Seahawks will be one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl. A large part of that reasoning seems to be because of Mike
Macdonald and his defense. Last season, Seattle allowed only 292 points throughout the entire season. That is an average of 17.2 points per game, good enough for first in the league. Do Seahawks fans think they can repeat this impressive stat?
It appears that Seattle fans are feeling very confident entering the 2026 season. Of Seahawks fans polled, 49% believe that Seattle will repeat as the NFL defensive leaders in points allowed in 2026. Of the other 51% of fans, 48% think the Seahawks will finish in the top five, with only 3% believing they will finish out of the top five.
This confidence is not surprising. The Seahawks nearly brought back every player on defense from 2025. The notable departures were Boye Mafe, Riq Woolen, and Coby Bryant. However, John Schneider didn’t leave those spots unfilled. Dante Fowler Jr. was signed to the roster to help make up for the loss of Mafe. Meanwhile, at cornerback, Schneider brought in former first round pick, Noah Igbinoghene, as well as a trio of drafted cornerbacks, led by third round pick, Julian Neal. Bud Clark was also taken in the second round to help replace Bryant.
On top of the continuity on the defense, there is added optimism that the defense can get even better with young players like Nick Emmanwori and Byron Murphy II having another year with Mike Macdonald.
Of course, repeating as the NFL leaders in points allowed in a season is a very tough feat to do. It is wild to think that the Legion of Boom era Seahawks were able to accomplish this for four consecutive seasons (2012-2015). 2026 will be another opportunity for this Dark Side defense to add to their trophy case and show that they are also an all-time NFL defense, just like the Legion of Boom.
