Aidan O’Connell is getting healthy and the Las Vegas Raiders will soon have a decision to make.
Last week, Las Vegas coach Pete Carroll said he was hopeful O’Connell will be ready to return this week. Thus,
the team could activate his 21-day window to remove him from the injured reserve. He has been on the IR since breaking his wrist in August in the final preseason game.
It will be interesting to see what the Raiders do with O’Connell when he is fully healthy.
O’Connell struggled in the preseason before getting hurt and they the Raiders traded or Kenny Pickett to back up Geno Smith. Pickett seems to fit the offense better than O’Connell.
The Raiders could opt to keep O’Connell on the 53-man roster to ether compete with Pickett or be the No. 3. Or they could try to trade him before the November 4 deadline or cut him and try to put on on the practice squad if he were to clear waivers.
Thus, they have a choice to make soon for the fourth-round pick in 2023 where has started 17 games in two season.
