Chaos has followed Mike Tyson for nearly his entire life.
Now, the former undisputed Heavyweight champion is preparing to confront all of it in TYSON, a new four-part documentary series premiering Oct. 13, 2026, exclusively on Netflix.
Netflix released the first trailer for the highly anticipated docuseries on Thurs. (Sept. 17), offering an emotional glimpse at Tyson’s turbulent journey from a troubled childhood in Brooklyn to becoming the youngest Heavyweight champion in boxing history — and everything
that came crashing down afterward.
“This is the dark side of me,” Tyson says in the trailer. “That’s just who I became. Addicted to chaos.”
When a producer presses Tyson to explain why, the 60-year-old boxing legend grows uncomfortable.
“You’re making this difficult for me now,” Tyson responds.
Directed by Floyd Russ, who previously worked on Untold: Malice at the Palace and American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing, the four-hour series promises an unfiltered examination of Tyson’s spectacular rise, violent downfall and complicated transformation.
Tyson became the youngest Heavyweight champion in boxing history when he demolished Trevor Berbick at just 20 years old in 1986. He eventually unified the division and developed into one of the most terrifying athletes on the planet.
However, Tyson’s life outside the ring was even more explosive.
His story includes a rape conviction and prison sentence, substance abuse, financial ruin and countless public controversies. Inside the ring, Tyson’s career was permanently stained by his infamous 1997 disqualification for biting off part of Evander Holyfield’s ear.
The documentary will also feature interviews with Tyson’s inner circle, including his wife, Lakiha “Kiki” Spicer, and his son, Miguel Tyson, who discuss the damaged man behind the fearsome public persona.
Netflix originally announced the project shortly after Tyson returned to the ring against Jake Paul in Nov. 2024. The bizarre boxing match drew an enormous global audience despite a lackluster performance from the then-58-year-old Tyson, who lost by unanimous decision (watch highlights).
Tyson’s life has already been explored through books, films and television projects, but his willingness to address his darkest moments — along with access to his family and closest confidants — could make TYSON the most personal version yet.
All four episodes premiere Oct. 13 on Netflix.
