Hannah Blundell has spoken of her desire to play at Goodison Park in front of the fans after the full-back returned to Merseyside after the expiry of her contract from Manchester United, which followed an impressive loan spell with Everton Women during the second half of last season.
The 32-year-old was crucial to Everton’s strong finish to their historic inaugural season at the Grand Old Lady, making 10 appearance for the Toffees in 2025/26, and becomes the fourth signing of the summer following
the acquisitions of both Hannah Cain and Noémie Mouchon from Leicester City, and the permanent transfer of Zara Kramžar who, like Blundell, made her loan move permanent after arriving on Merseyside last season.
And the England international has cited the iconic home of the Toffees and her relationship with the fanbase as two reasons for her decision to join Everton.
“Goodison is such an iconic stadium,” she continued. “To play our home games here is so special. Creating memories and positive moments is something I am really looking forward to.
“I thought we showed some great glimpses of what we can achieve together, and hopefully we can build on that in the new season. Now we have got Scott (Phelan) permanently as well, I think it should be a really exciting season for us.
“I felt like as soon as I came into the club, I built a good relationship with our fans. I think they are fantastic. Especially in a stadium like this, the noise they bring here is incredible and something that really helps as a player when you are playing.
“And then in away games as well, they are fantastic. Hopefully, we can create great memories together.”
Six players have already been deemed surplus to requirements, while France star Kelly Gago has headed south to join West Ham United.
With Phelan bolstering the ranks with two forwards and an attacking midfielder, the addition of Blundell adds a guile and experience to the rearguard of Everton’s backline, but is the Toffees’ boss done with additions?
