Sonna ma gun. Santino Marella is a crazy one. Trick Williams thought he could pull a weasel move with his lawyer, but Santino struck the fancy pants with the Cobra. That led to a cliffhanger on TNA Impact (Aug. 28, 2025).
According to Williams’ contract as TNA world champion, he doesn’t have to defend the title for 50 days. That doesn’t mean he’s scot-free from wrestling. Santino used his Director of Authority power to book Trick Willy in tag team action alongside AJ Francis against Mike Santana and
Steve Maclin.
The finish was blazing. Santana was in control down the stretch for a rolling cutter and a Death Valley Driver. Neither move could keep Williams down for three. Francis burst in to save Williams, but that plan backfired when Trick accidentally booted AJ out of the ring. Maclin followed for a suicide dive onto Top Dolla. Santana tried to strike with the Spin the Block discus lariat. Williams dodged the move and countered for the Trick Shot. Santana sensed it coming and went low for a roll-up to score the win. Tensions were high throughout and led to fisticuffs in the aftermath. Williams shoved his rival, so Santana took him down to pound punches.
Later backstage, Williams was on the phone complaining to his lawyer about the post-match assault. Trick Willy demanded that his lawyer arrive at the venue immediately.
That led into the final scene from Impact. Williams voiced his case. TNA isn’t a top-class wrestling promotion. It is a crime scene. Working conditions are unsafe.
Williams doesn’t have to defend the TNA world title for 50 days. Enter Santino to do the math. The calendar points to Bound For Glory on October 12. It sounded like Santino was ready to announce Williams versus Santana for the PPV, however, the lawyer cut him off. He kept speaking with legal terms. Santino turned his back, loaded up the Cobra, and struck. This clip is as ridiculously amusing as it sounds.
Williams fled the ring before Santino could continue with an announcement. The show closed as a cliffhanger to see what plans Santino has for the world champ at Bound For Glory. The answer will likely come next week during the live episode of Impact from Minneapolis.
All signs point to Santana getting another crack at Williams, especially since he just pinned the champ clean in the ring. Trick Willy has done a great job at being extra sleazy the past few weeks. Bringing in a lawyer to hide behind is great for heel heat. In comparison, Santana is a man of the people. There will be no hiding for Williams when Santana finally gets his shot to be the hero for TNA.
