No, there isn’t a broken record. He’s just that good.
Former Indiana football wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. was named the Pepsi Rookie of the week following his standout performance against the Miami Dolphins this past Sunday, per an official release from the New York Jets.
Cooper Jr. finished with five receptions for 115 yards and a touchdown against the Dolphins. This just a week after he finished with six receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown against the New England Patrios in his first Rookie
of the Week-winning effort.
He’s just the eighth player since the AFL-NFL merger to finish with multiple performances of 100 or more receiving yards in his first three career games and the first to do for for the Jets. Plenty of that production came after the catch, something he got plenty of tape on from his time at Indiana. Notably, the lone game he hasn’t finished with 100 or more receiving yards was his first, which he left early due to injury.
If Cooper Jr. keeps this up, he can make his way into the NFL’s Rookie of the Year race.
