Fulham could jump in on Palhinha (TEAMtalk)
If Tottenham Hotspur declines to exercise its purchase option on Bayern Munich loanee João Palhinha, there could be another club willing to take on the Portuguese defensive midfielder — Fulham FC:
Fulham
would consider a move for Joao Palhinha if Tottenham do not take up their option to sign him. There is not yet clarification on his situation but in recent weeks sources have become less convinced that Spurs trigger the option to take him on a permanent deal, which is worth €30m / £26m.
Fulham will keep an eye on the situation in case there is a possibility to lure him back to Craven Cottage in the summer. Palhinha showed ambition when he left Fulham for the Bundesliga but his move did not go to plan and he is still not hitting the levels at Tottenham that he once showed in west London.
It is unclear at this stage how he would view the idea of going back to his old club, but if Marco Silva remains as boss it is something that could be progressed.
Bayern Munich appears to have no use for Palhinha, who the club has never really had a plan on how he would fit. Now, the Bavarians just need a partner to work with and Fulham — as unlikely as it seems — could be willing to bring him back.
Atléti to pursue Goretzka? (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Atlético Madrid could be yet another club looking to bring in Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka:
While Vincent Kompany has largely preferred Alexander Pavloic in the Champions League alongside Joshua Kimmich, Goretzka has been used heavily in the Bundesliga.
He has made 12 starts in the Bundesliga this season and has made a further two appearances from the bench, proving to be a utility player once again.
It is unclear whether Goretzka will stay at the club beyond the summer, as he has not been offered a new deal, but he is unlikely to be sold in January.
Christian Falk has told CFBayern that Atletico Madrid could look to sign the experienced German midfielder for free in the summer.
FC Barcelona might not be able to act as quickly as Atlético Madrid, so there could be an advantage for them if Goretzka is interested in that move.
Diomande in demand (ESPN)
RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande is rumored to be on Bayern Munich’s radar, but the Bavarians are not the only club who likes the 19-year-old:
A move for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande is being considered by Arsenal, according to The Athletic. The Gunners are reportedly monitoring the 19-year-old’s situation, and it is expected that an offer worth €100 million would be required to secure his signature. Any deal would, however, need to take place in the summer, with the Bundesliga side unwilling to let him go this month. Diomande, who has also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, scored for Ivory Coast during their 3-1 Africa Cup of Nations round-of-16 win over Burkina Faso on Tuesday.
It seems like Diomande could be a hard get for the Bavarians, but there are rumors floating around that Bayern Munich could be looking for a back-up left-winger to play behind Luis Díaz.
Porto ousts Bayern for Polish phenom (Rudy Galetti)
Bayern Munich was rumored to have interest in Polish winger Oskar Pietuszewski, but FC Porto has reportedly won the race:
🚨🤝 FC Porto have reached an agreement in principle to sign Oskar Pietuszewski from Jagiellonia, everything is confirmed. ✅
Deal close to €10m including bonuses, plus a future sell-on clause.
Final details being completed, contract agreed until 2030.
Tel not headed to Galatasaray (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
Former Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel (who might or might not be a bust) has not had a great season for Tottenham Hotspur and was linked to Galatasaray. However, Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg says that the Turkish club is not interested:
Guéhi on the move? (Fabrizio Romano)
Is it coincidence that Manchester City was linked to Crystal Palace center-back Marc Guéhi and a few days later (likely outgoing) head coach Oliver Glasner is not ruling out a January transfer for the 25-year-old?:
🚨 Oliver Glasner opens doors to Marc Guehi’s exit in January: “There’s the situation that the contract ends in the summer and if somebody is coming, there will be a moment when the club says: ‘Now the financial issue is more important than the sport issue.’ We have to do it and try to get the best. That’s why I’m always saying: ‘I don’t know.’ Because this is different”.
“There will be a threshold where the club has to say [sell] … If the player says: ‘I want to leave’ and the money is above the threshold, it will happen. I’m not so naive not to know that if a massive offer comes from City and Marc wants to do it, it will happen.”
