One former Wisconsin native is entering the portal prior to the deadline on Tuesday night, as On3’s Joe Tipton reported that Alabama guard/wing Davion Hannah is heading to the transfer portal following his freshman season.
Hannah, ranked a top-50 recruit by On3 in the loaded 2025 freshman class, averaged 3.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game for the Crimson Tide last season. He saw action in 10 games, averaging 12.7 minutes per contest, and was out of the rotation since December 17th
after being diagnosed with a medical condition.
The 6’6, 190-pound Wisconsin native was highly touted coming out of high school, earning serious traction from schools around the country before committing to the Alabama Crimson Tide.
With the medical condition, Hannah is expected to seek a medical redshirt, providing him with four years of eligibility left at his next destination. Could that be the Wisconsin Badgers?
Greg Gard and his staff have made moves in the transfer portal early on, landing George Washington guard Trey Autry, Miami (OH) wing Eian Elmer, and Hofstra center Victory Onuetu. There is room for an extra addition or two, but it’s unclear how much Wisconsin can compete financially with other interested programs after their run of transfers last week.
But the Badgers did recruit Hannah out of high school. Let’s see if they make a move here with him entering the portal.
