Luis Díaz struggled to get going in Bayern’s first few games of the season, but the Colombian international is officially back in business.
Simply put, Lucho devastated RB Leipzig. From the first minute of the game to the very last, Díaz was threatening Die Roten Bullen’s goal. The 29-year-old broke the deadlock after 12 minutes, and assisted Aleksandar Pavlović’s goal just 14 minutes later. Luis Díaz completed his brace two minutes after the restart, before securing his hat-trick in the 69th minute.
Four goal contributions made Díaz the undisputed Man of the Match, despite mouth-watering displays from Michael Olise, Harry Kane, Aleksandar Pavlović, and Joshua Kimmich.
Bayern’s routing of Leipzig presents two undeniable truths: Lukas Klostermann is going to have Luis Díaz-themed nightmares for the next few weeks, and Bayern’s Colombian superstar is officially back.
The timing of Lucho’s return to form could not be better. Bayern will square off against a strong Arsenal side on Wednesday without Olise, after he got a red card against Viking FK. The Frenchman will be sorely missed. But Díaz’s performance against Leipzig is a reminder that Arsenal have more than one winger to worry about.
Díaz missed last year’s Champions League heavyweight bout against The Gunners due to suspension, so he will have a point to prove against the defending Premier League champions.
