Q. Do You know what’s more fun than a five-game win streak?
A. A six-game win streak. Let’s do it!
Game two of the three-game series between the Athletics and the Boston Red Sox takes place this evening at Fenway Park in Boston. The Sox, currently 4-6 in their last ten games still hold on to the third (and final) American League Wild Card spot, but as the season’s last two weeks wind down, virtually nothing is settled in the race for the pennant. So, the A’s once again own the role of potential spoiler.
Taking the mound tonight for the A’s is 24-year-old rookie Mason Barnett. The righty 1-1 on the season with an 8.54 ERA in just three starts. His last outing was against these Red Sox (at home) where he lasted just 3.2 innings and gave up three earned runs on seven hits. Bennet will go up against 31-year-old righty Lucas Giolito. After spending the entire 2024 season on the Injured List (IL) He has come back strong in his first season with the Red Sox. He’s 10-4 on the year with a 3.31 ERA in twenty-four starts.
Giolito will face off against this lineup for Mark Kotsay’s Athletics tonight:
Barnett will fact his lineup for Alex Cora’s Red Sox:
