Following his unanimous decision win over the weekend, Arnold Barboza
caught up with boxing media members to discuss the fight and what he wants to see come next.Barboza on how he feels about his performance against Sims
“I know it was good, I know I won a lot of rounds. Shout out to Sims — really, really tough fighter. I think it was crazy because I think people had me as the underdog my last four fights. So hopefully people made money and save me my percentage.”
On where he goes from here
“I know Rocha wanted to fight but honestly I would like to fight a bigger fight. But, hey, if
I can’t get a bigger name then we can go Rocha. I seen his fight today with JoJo. We’ll see, we’ll talk to Eric and Golden Boy and see where we go.”
On if he wants a rematch with Teofimo Lopez
“That’s not even a question, man. Of course. 100%. I would love to get my lick back, it’s my only loss. I told Catterall too, I offered Cattearll a fight a lot. I was bugging him and his manager like ‘you want your lick back? I’ll give it to you.’
“‘No, no, no, mate.’
“If it was me, like if Teo offered me I would be like ‘hell yeah.”
On wanting to fight Ryan Garcia
“I think it’s the perfect fight for him…Ryan makes a lot of sense.”
On if he’s concerned about his manager Rick Mirigian having a contentious relationship with his promoter Oscar De La Hoya
“No because it didn’t get into the way of this fight…At the end of the day I told Golden Boy I’m here with him. I’m signed with Golden Boy Promotions, I’m happy. [Their beef] has nothing to do with me.”
