The San Francisco 49ers are in Los Angeles to take on the Chargers for their second preseason game. There are familiar faces all over, with Jim Harbaugh, Mike McDaniel, Trey Lance, NaVorro Bowman, and Shane Day all on the other sideline.
The 49ers’ secondary is hopeful they can pick on Lance and the rest of the Chargers’ quarterbacks that suit up tonight. It’ll be a step up in class from the wideouts the Niners faced last week, but a good litmus test to see where the defensive backs stand with less
than a month to go until the regular season.
We’ll also get a chance to see some of the starters for the first time in action, even if it’s only for a couple of series. That means Osa Odighizuwa in a 49ers uniform — hopefully. It looks like Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw are in street clothes. Still, this team is built around the front seven. It’s up to them to take pressure off the secondary.
There are enough positional battles up and down the roster that should make tonight a fun watch to see if any player can separate themselves.
