UFC Qatar went down this past weekend (Sat., Nov. 22, 2025) in Doha, Qatar, leaving several fighters feeling the post-fight blues. Among them was Shamil Gaziev, who was knocked out by super duper short-notice replacement, Waldo Cortes-Acosta, in the first round (see it here).
And Dan Hooker, who was was submitted by Arman Tsarukyan in the second round of their pivotal 155-pound showdown (relive it here). And let’s not forget about Alonzo Menifield, who was viciously knocked out by Volkan Oezdemir
in the opening frame of their Light Heavyweight firecracker (see it again here). But, which fighter is suffering from the worst post-fight hangover, now a few days removed from the show?
Coming into his co-headlining bout against Ian Machado-Garry, Muhammad was hoping to erase the memory of his loss to Jack Della Maddalena earlier this year (more on that here), which ultimately cost him his 170-pound title. “Remember The Name” was also aiming for an impressive win to keep afloat atop the talent-rich Welterweight division, which has suddenly become very crowded.
Unfortunately for Muhammad, things went from bad to worse once the dust settled.
For 15 minutes, Garry pretty much dictated the pace of the fight and Muhammad was never really able to get much going. “Remember The Name” has never been the most exciting fighter, which has opened him up to a lot of criticism, but a win over Garry would have been huge for many reasons. In the end, the cageside judges awarded Garry the unanimous decision win.
“We couldn’t get it done,” Muhammad wrote after the loss. “Thank you Doha for the memories Thank you to my team and family and friends that are with me no matter what, and Thank you to anyone that’s with me … Alhamdillah for everything I’m blessed to be here …we have work to do.”
The loss is crucial for Muhammad, who is on his first-ever, two-fight losing streak. When you couple that with surging players such as Carlos Prates and Michael Morales making big moves at UFC 322, and Belal’s road back to the top looks treacherous. And let’s not forget about Jack Della, who is undoubtedly steaming after losing his title to Islam Makhachev, and is out to prove his worth to get a rematch.
As far what could be next for Muhammad, perhaps a fight against Joaquin Buckley is in order. “New Mansa” is currently ranked No. 10 in the division and is coming off a loss at the hands of former division champion, Kamaru Usman, at UFC Atlanta this past June (relive it here). The loss snapped Buckley’s six-fight win streak, ending a nice run he was on toward a Top 5 ranking.
