Arijon Ibrahimović is hoping that some extra attention from Vincent Kompany can help take his finishing to another level.
The Bayern Munich youngster recently revealed that Kompany personally approached him for an individualized finishing drill, with the exercise designed to address one of the most important aspects of scoring goals — concentration.
“It was really cool that he came up to me and gave me a personalized finishing drill. Specifically, the focus was on improving my concentration in front
of goal,” Ibrahimović told FCBayern.com (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
That detail says plenty about Kompany’s approach to developing his players. Rather than simply putting Ibrahimović through a generic finishing session, the Bayern Munich head coach identified a specific area where the attacker can improve and tailored the work accordingly.
For a young player trying to establish himself, those little details can make a major difference. Ibrahimović has the technical ability and attacking instincts to make an impact, but becoming more consistent in front of goal could be the next step in his development.
It is also encouraging to see Kompany taking such a hands-on approach with Bayern Munich’s younger players. The manager has repeatedly emphasized the importance of development and giving talented youngsters opportunities, and moments like this demonstrate that development does not only happen during matches.
For Ibrahimović, the message is simple — sharpen the concentration, become more clinical, and make every opportunity count. If he can turn that work on the training ground into production when the games matter, he could give Kompany another intriguing attacking option this season.
