Spain boss Luis de la Fuente has given a remarkable reaction after being quizzed on Hansi Flick’s recent criticism of his treatment of Lamine Yamal.
Flick accused Spain of not looking after their players
properly after seeing Lamine Yamal pick up an injury problem while on international duty.
Yamal has missed Barcelona’s games against Valencia, Newcastle and Getafe and is not expected to feature tonight against Real Oviedo either.
De la Fuente has been out and about today, receiving a tribute from the Riojan Football Federation, and was asked about Flick’s comments on Yamal.
The Spain boss gave them short shrift, however, when asked about the Barcelona manager’s complaints, as reported by the Europa Press.
“Do you think,” he asked the journalist who asked him, “that today, in my homeland, and enjoying this moment, I remember what Hansi Flick said? I’m not even interested.”
His comments are unlikely to go down at all well with Barcelona and may well even increase tensions between club and country ahead of the next international break.
