Caleb Williams now has the Chicago Bears single season franchise record of 3,942 yards. His 27 TD passes is tied for the fourth best total with Jay Cutler’s 2009, behind Erik Kramer’s 29 (1995), Cutler’s 28 (2014), and Sid Luckman’s (!!!) 28 (1943). It is a top five season of passing the football in franchise history, an easy argument to make. I’ll go further and call it a top two season in franchise history.
If we look at yards per game, touchdowns, and interceptions – the major passing stats – here’s
what you’re choosing from:
2025 Williams – 232 ypg, 27 TD, 7 INT
2014 Cutler – 254 ypg, 28 TD, 18 INT
1995 Kramer – 240 ypg, 29 TD, 10 INT
1943 Luckman – 219 ypg, 28 TD, 12 INT
The Luckman year is honestly ridiculous, but it was the war years and I’m not going to make a serious argument for it (but it’s always fun to bring up a 13.9 TD%). I think it clearly comes down to Caleb vs Kramer. I’m not sure there’s a clear winner, so I’ll just leave it as a top 2 season.
The distribution of receptions and yards is just unbelievably funny to me. If Ben Johnson were scripting what the shares were for the targets at the beginning of the year, I wouldn’t be shocked if he put something like this together. Sixty yards separates Colston Loveland, first on the team, from Luther Burden, fourth on the team, with DJ Moore and Rome Odunze sandwiched in between. Perfect.
Here are the updated stats on the Infogram:
Thanks to everyone for following along. I think if we do this again, we’ll start incorporating some career statistics and start to track Caleb against the rest of the league.
