The biggest addition the Denver Broncos made this offseason was trading for wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. It came at a hefty cost. Nevertheless, the Broncos are confident they will see an immediate return on their big-time investment.
Denver’s ultimate goal this season is the Super Bowl. Few teams can realistically say that, but for them—it’s true. In order to accomplish that, the team will have to be much better on offense and unleash untapped dimensions of their aerial attack in 2026 that were missing
last year.
Throughout the offseason, Waddle has earned praise from his coaches and teammates for what he brings to the table. However, he knows it will take more than just him to get the Broncos’ offense to the next level. After yesterday’s practice, Waddle approached the aforementioned with humility and embraced a team-first attitude when asked about making the offense more dynamic.
“I wouldn’t even say it’s just me. We have a lot of playmakers around us, so they want to get playmakers in space. They want us to get the ball in a hurry, get the ball out fast and just allow us to create plays. I don’t necessarily think it’s just me. We have a lot of playmakers, so just designing different things to get us in space,” added Waddle.
Transitioning to a new team isn’t always easy. Though for Waddle, heading from Miami to Denver has been a relatively smooth process. While he is still learning the ropes and getting acclimated to the area, the sixth-year pro gave rave reviews about the team’s culture. Moreover, expressed gratitude for how everyone in the organization treated him from the day he arrived in the Mile High City.
“It’s just the team. They welcomed me with open arms since Day 1. I kind of grew to know not just Pat, but my receiver group, and the defense and everyone. It’s like a big family here. It just makes it easy to come to work. It makes it easy to come to work, go out there and compete in front of the fans on days like this.”
In his first three years in the NFL, Waddle surpassed the 1,000-yard mark. The past two seasons, there has been some statistical regression. That’s by no fault of his own and can mostly be attributed to the quarterback issues with the Dolphins. In his first year with the Broncos, the sky is the limit for Waddle.
He expressed confidence and optimism for the upcoming season. One of those reasons is because of who he is going up against on a daily basis. The Broncos boast one of the league’s best secondaries that will present him with more challenges leading up to the start of the season. Iron sharpens iron, and Waddle believes going up against Denver’s high-caliber defense will improve his play.
“Our defense is definitely top in the league. Just having that back and forth with them, front to the back end, to the linebackers. It just makes us play true. We try to go out there, give them good looks and compete really hard against them. Our defense is hard to get a yard on, I can tell you that.”
