We are nearly there. After the coming weekend, we will officially be into Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season. For the Detroit Lions, that means hosting the New Orleans Saints back in the friendly confines of Ford Field. It’s a big season for Detroit in many ways, and after a 2025 season that fell short of everyone’s expectations—I expect the team to come out of the gates with a sizable chip on their shoulders.
However, we still have over a week to get into all of the analysis and preparation for the game
against New Orleans. So for now, let’s get into something that doesn’t matter very much at all, and yet many of us still care—uniforms.
There was and still are plenty of discussions taking place surrounding the unveiling of the Lions’ 2026 Rivalry jerseys. Rather than jumping into those waters, let’s focus on another hotly debated topic amongst varying generations of fans: the silver pants. For a while now, the team has taken a liking to the monochromatic look where they have on all one color: the “blueberries” at home where they rock the blue home jersey with the blue pants, or the stormtrooper look on the road with the white on white.
Listen, I like both of those looks, and they have their places, but please, wear the silver pants more often. At home, on the road. Both, if we are feeling crazy. And that brings us to today’s question of the day—what uniform combination do you want the Lions to wear in Week 1?
My answer: You probably could have guessed this, but the blue tops with the silver pants. Lions coach Dan Campbell has put it out there before that the captains make the decisions for jerseys, and while I am also superstitious, let’s just try the traditional home look in Week 1. See how it goes and then we can go from there. Penei Sewell, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and the other captains, if you are reading this for whatever reason, do it for the 80s and 90s babies.
What about you? What jerseys do you want the Lions to wear in Week 1 against the Saints? Let us know in the poll and comments below.
