After three years of Bob, Chelsea’s goalkeeper situation has changed practically in an instant. Or, to be more accurate, in about 90 minutes at Craven Cottage last Monday.
Chelsea may have won, but Sanchez squandered the last remaining shreds of faith Xabi Alonso may have had in him — and there may not have been much to begin with. And since in this new BlueCo era, the manager does now have some say in transfers, we moved quickly to snap up Emi Martinez from Aston Villa, and moved almost as quickly to find
a new home for Bob, at least temporarily.
According to the latest reports, that new home will be next to scenic Lake Como, with the 25-year-old goalkeeper set to join the local outfit on a season-long loan, with the possibility of making that stay permanent at the end of the season as well.
Sanchez will be the second Chelsea man to join Cesc Fabregas’s side this summer, after Trevoh Chalobah. Those two featured in an iconic picture from last season, which just about summed up Bob’s Chelsea career, but I’m sure they will do well together in Serie A.
