“CLD” will be back.
No. 10-ranked Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight Christian Leroy Duncan suffered a fifth-round submission loss to Brendan Allen in the main event of UFC Vegas 122 last night (Sat., Oct. 10, 2026) inside Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada (watch highlights).
Shortly after suffering the first stoppage loss of his professional career, Duncan issued a brief statement on Instagram.
“Thankful for the experiences that carry us forward,” Duncan wrote. “Nothing changes. The fire
is too bright to dampen. The pursuit continues. Back to work.”
Allen warned Duncan before the fight that he “better catch me early,” promising to test the rising contender’s toughness if their five-round matchup reached deep waters.
That is exactly what happened.
Duncan remained competitive into the championship rounds, but Allen’s experience, durability and grappling eventually became too much. “All-In” secured the submission in the fifth round, halting Duncan’s rapid climb toward the top of the Middleweight division.
The loss snapped Duncan’s five-fight winning streak, a run that included victories over former title challenger Jared Cannonier and Roman Dolidze, along with brutal knockout wins over Marco Tulio and Eryk Anders (watch highlights).
Duncan’s momentum has undoubtedly taken a hit, but his stock should not fall too dramatically. “CLD” is still 8-3 inside the Octagon and, at 31 years old, remains one of the Middleweight division’s most dangerous strikers.
He will probably have to fight backward in the rankings during his next appearance.
How about fellow striker Roman Kopylov?
That sounds violent.
