Aug 31 (Field Level Media) - The Atlanta Falcons acquired defensive tackle Gervon Dexter Sr. from the Chicago Bears in exchange for cornerback Clark Phillips III and a fifth-round draft pick Sunday.
The 24-year-old Dexter, who was a starter for Chicago the last two seasons, recorded 44 tackles and six sacks in 17 games (all starts) last season. The 6-foot-6, 326-pounder totaled 115 tackles and 13.5 sacks in 49 career games (33 starts) since being selected by the Bears in the second
round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Phillips, 24, played in just one game last season before sustaining a triceps injury. A fourth-round pick by the Falcons in 2023, Phillips had 63 tackles, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one interception in 28 career games (seven starts).
--The Jacksonville Jaguars traded tight end Hunter Long and a 2028 seventh- round pick to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for a 2028 sixth-rounder.
Long, selected in the third round of the 2021 draft by the Dolphins, spent two seasons in Miami, the next two with the Los Angeles Rams and then a single season in Jacksonville in 2025.
He has 20 receptions for 153 yards in 46 games (eight starts) in his career.
--The Dallas Cowboys acquired offensive tackle Broderick Jones from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Cowboys announced the trade and the terms. Dallas is sending third- and sixth-round picks in the 2027 draft to Pittsburgh for Jones and a 2027 fourth- rounder.
In the past three seasons, Jones appeared in 45 games (38 starts) for the Steelers.
--The Indianapolis Colts are acquiring center Sedrick Van Pran-Granger and a seventh-round pick in the 2027 draft for a sixth-round selection in the same draft.
The Bills chose Van Pran-Granger in the fifth round of the 2024 draft. In two seasons, he appeared in 31 games, starting twice.
--The Packers acquired running back Kaleb Johnson from the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to multiple reports. The Iowa product was Pittsburgh's third-round selection (No. 83 overall) in the 2025 draft. He got into 10 games and carried the ball 28 times for 69 yards.
Johnson, who also returned eight kickoffs, provides insurance in the wake of the NFL placing Josh Jacobs on the Commissioners' Exempt list.
Green Bay also made a deal with the Los Angeles Rams, acquiring tight end Mark Redman for a 2028 seventh-round draft pick, according to reports. Redman, who spent all of the 2025 season on the Rams' practice squad, was a 2025 undrafted free agent from Louisville.
--The New England Patriots are acquiring offensive tackle Walter Rouse and a seventh-round pick from the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a sixth-round pick, per NFL Network.
Rouse was a sixth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Vikings. He appeared in eight total games over the last two seasons, logging 88 offensive snaps.
--The Los Angeles Chargers made two moves Sunday to get something in return for two promising young players, trading rookie cornerback Avery Smith to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2027 sixth-round draft pick and defensive tackle TeRah Edwards to the Carolina Panthers for a 2028 sixth-rounder.
Smith was an undrafted free agent signing who impressed in camp. Edwards was a rookie free agent in 2025; he didn't appear in any games last fall.
Per ESPN, Los Angeles was set to release veteran safety Tony Jefferson, but the moves allowed the team to keep him.
--The San Francisco 49ers acquired offensive lineman Jarrett Patterson from the Houston Texans in exchange for a 2027 seventh-rounder, per ESPN.
Patterson appeared in all 17 games a season ago, starting five games. He joined the league as a sixth-round pick in 2023.
