Oct 14 (Field Level Media) - By the end of October, the golf world will learn if LIV Golf 2.0 will proceed.
The original deadline for LIV players to commit to the proposed second iteration was Oct. 13, but the league extended that until Oct. 25, according to Golf Digest.
The extension took place in the same time frame when LIV star Jon Rahm's attorneys revealed the Spaniard's intention to depart after three seasons.
Major champions Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed announced their intention
to leave LIV within the last 10 months.
Over the past month, prominent players such as Bubba Watson, Spain's Sergio Garcia and David Puig, Australian Cameron Smith, South Korea's Byeong Hun An and Harold Varner III have announced their intentions to part ways with LIV.
At LIV's latest bankruptcy hearing on Wednesday, league attorneys indicated that their fate will be known by the end of the month.
The presiding judge asked when they'll know "whether 2.0 is going forward," or not, a LIV attorney responded that they "anticipate that that decision will be made by the end of the month."
That would leave less than one week for LIV Golf and its new primary investor, BC Partners, to determine if the majority-player owned league can move forward.
BC Partners is investing 45% of the league's financial backing, while seeking 52.5% player equity.
