What's Happening?
Sky Sports+ has announced an extensive coverage plan for the English Football League (EFL) during the 2025/26 season. The network will broadcast over 1,000 games from a total of 1,891 matches across the EFL, Carabao Cup, and Vertu Trophy. This coverage will include every Championship, League One, and League Two team, each featured live more than 20 times throughout the season. Sky Sports+ is available at no extra cost to subscribers and can be accessed on channel 404 via Sky Q, Sky Glass, and Sky Stream. For non-Sky subscribers, access is available through NOW Sports Day or Flexible Month Membership, offering contract-free viewing options.
Why It's Important?
The expanded coverage by Sky Sports+ is significant for football fans, providing unprecedented access to live EFL matches. This move enhances the visibility of lower league teams, potentially increasing fan engagement and support. It also offers flexibility for viewers, with options for both subscribers and non-subscribers to access content. The initiative could lead to increased revenue for clubs through heightened exposure and fan interaction. Additionally, it underscores the growing demand for comprehensive sports broadcasting, catering to diverse audiences and preferences.
What's Next?
Sky Sports+ will continue to develop its streaming capabilities, offering up to 100 live events via concurrent streams. Fans can personalize their viewing experience through the Sky Sports app, which allows users to follow their favorite teams and competitions for quicker access to matches. As the season progresses, Sky Sports+ may introduce additional features or partnerships to enhance viewer engagement and expand its audience reach.
