Marcos Thomas Perez, a former Miami Heat staffer, has pleaded guilty to charges related to the theft and sale of game-worn NBA jerseys and other memorabilia. Perez, who worked for the Miami Heat from 2016 to 2021 and later as an NBA security employee, was accused of stealing items from the Kaseya Center over a period of several years. The U.S. Attorney's Office of the Southern District of Florida reported that Perez had access to a secured equipment room where the stolen items were stored. Authorities seized approximately 300 stolen jerseys and memorabilia from Perez's residence, and it was revealed that he sold over 100 items for around $2 million. Among the stolen items was a jersey worn by LeBron James during the NBA Finals, which Perez sold for $100,000. This jersey was later auctioned for $3.7 million.
