Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya have been deservedly earning plaudits for the key roles they play in India's successful title defence, Shivam Dube's contribution has somewhat flown under the radar.
Despite scoring just one fifty in the tournament, Dube made some crucial contributions, most importantly, almost all of which came in clutch moments, when the team needed them the most.
Batting mostly in the lower middle order, Dube scored 235 runs in nine matches at a strike rate of close to 170. More than the volume of the runs, the impact it made should be noteworthy.
Dube's late-stage batting with a strike rate of 211.42 in death overs helped India recover from tight situations and finish in the ascendancy on several occasions.

Against New Zealand in the final, when Team India, which looked set to score in excess of 270, was rocked by a three-wicket over by James Neesham. The triple blow not only halted India's incredible charge but also gave the Kiwis a chance of restricting the co-hosts to a score in the range of 240.
But Dube had other ideas. The explosive left-hander smashed 26 runs off 8 balls to take India past the 250-run mark and gave India much-needed momentum going into the second innings.
Promoted up the order to No.4 against England, Dube made a big impact with a 25-ball 43, which proved to be decisive in the end as England fell just seven runs short of the 254-run target.
In the virtual quarterfinal against the West Indies, Dube took the pressure off Samson and India by hitting two boundaries in the 19th over, which shifted the momentum and gave India the breathing space by bringing the equation down to just 7 runs from six balls.
Such was the impact of Dube's 3-ball 10-run knock that India head coach Gautam Gambhir termed his contribution as big as Samson's unbeaten 97-run knock.
Dube's big game heroics
The list doesn't end here. It was Dube's cameo of 27 off just 17 balls that helped India post a competitive total of 175 for 7 against Pakistan in Colombo.
This is not the first time Dube has done a selfless job for India. In the 2024 T20 World Cup final against South Africa, Dube's 27 off 16 balls in tough conditions were as crucial as Virat Kohli's half-century.
In another crunch and high-pressure game in the 2025 Asia Cup final vs Pakistan, Dube's 22-ball 33 turned India's challenging run-chase into a successful one.
Not just in international cricket, Dube has proven himself on the biggest T20 stage - IPL. In the 2023 final against the Gujarat Titans, Dube, as an Impact Player, led CSK's charge with a 21-ball 32 and played a big role in the title-winning clash against the defending champions.
Role clarity & self-belief: The secret to Dube's consistent success
Dube has time and again proven himself as a big-game player, and according to him, role clarity and self-belief are the biggest factors in his success as the ultimate clutch player.
"My role was simple and communicated a long time ago by coach Gautam Gambhir and Surya bhai - keeping the strike rate high. If I’m asked to bowl, keep a tight line and keep the runs down. During the last World Cup, too, I had a similar role, but that time I had only a couple of big knocks. This time, I told myself that I won’t think too far ahead and take things match by match," Dube told Indian Express.
According to Dube, he played according to the role defined by the team management.
"I always had the confidence and just backed myself. I had worked hard on it. There was clarity in what the team wanted from me. I didn’t promise anything to myself, and the goal was to win the World Cup at home," he said.
Dube has quietly become the backbone of the Indian batting order in the last couple of years. When the going gets tough, and every ball requires a risky shot, Dube steps in by putting the team above everything else.
Amidst the loud noise of praises for the Bumrahs, the Kishans and the Samsons, Dube's name gets drowned.
It's high time for the Indian fans to celebrate Dube in the same way.
