In a major development from the Indian cricket team, star opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has informed the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) about his availability for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2025-26 clash for Mumbai.
The 23-year-old will be taking on Rajasthan at his Indian Premier League (IPL) home ground Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, starting on Saturday, November 1, just a couple of weeks before the two-match Test series against South Africa at home.
Journalist Devendra Pandey of the Indian Express broke the news and the presence of Yashasvi Jaiswal will be a huge boost for Mumbai especially with the unavailability of fellow opener Ayush Mhatre due to other major commitments. The youngster is slated to play for India A in the four-day two-match series against South Africa A in Bengaluru, beginning on October 30, in the build-up to the respective senior teams taking on each other in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was a squad member during India’s 2-1 ODI series defeat against Australia down under recently, having played just one match in the format earlier in the year. Before that, he was a key performer in India’s 2-0 home Test series win over West Indies, scoring 219 runs at an average of 73 with a 175 in the second match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi earlier this month.
Yashasvi Jaiswal sponsors best batsman award for Haris Shield and Giles Shield tournaments
Moreover, in a heartwarming gesture, Yashasvi Jaiswal has informed the Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) Secretary Nadeem Memon about sponsoring the best batsman award for Harris Shield and Giles Shield tournaments. After playing in the aforementioned tournaments during his younger days, learning the craft of batsmanship which has served him so well at a professional level, he has decided to give back.
It will be interesting to see how the left-handed batter shapes up in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 clash for Mumbai against Rajasthan, especially with the home Test series on the horizon in the later part of next month.
