As India and Australia are all set to take on each other in the ODI series to start down under from October 19, Pat Cumminshas revealed his all-time ODI XI combining players from both teams. Cummins won’t
be participating in the competition due to his back injury. Besides him, Adam Zampa and Josh Inglis also won’t show up in the first ODI to be played at the Optus Stadium on October 19. Zampa will be accompanying his wife as she is in the final stage of her pregnancy while Inglis hasn’t recovered from his calf injury.
Discussing Cummins’ playing XI, it features former players such as Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, MS Dhoni, Michael Bevan, Shane Watson, Shane Warne, Zaheer Khan, Brett Lee, and Glenn McGrath. Besides these greats, the 32-year-old also included David Warner and Steven Smith. Cummins and Warner played a lot of cricket together. Last year, the left-handed opener retired from international cricket after serving Australia for 15 years from 2009 to 2024.
No Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah in Pat Cummins' XI
Cummins’ playing XI included only three Team Indiaplayers. The Aussie skipper ignored iconic names such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah. From the current Aussie side, he didn’t name Glenn Maxwell, Travis Head, and Mitchell Starc. Among wicket-keepers, he could’ve picked up Adam Gilchrist.
Cummins played his last ODI game against Team India in Cricket World Cup 2023 final played at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium. Travis Head played a 137-run knock off 120 balls and became the player of the match (POTM). After that game, India and Australia locked horns with each other in the Champions Trophy and the Men in Blue bagged a four-wicket win in the contest.
