SA20 2026 Final: Sunrisers Eastern Cape beat Pretoria Capitals, Full SA20 Winners list

Sunrisers Eastern Cape created history as they beat Pretoria Capitals by six wickets to win the SA20 final. This is their third SA20 title and they have created a legacy which makes them the best team in the history of the competition. Stubbs played a match winning knock and under his captaincy the SEC won the title this season.

Pretoria Capitals were batting first and were in all sorts of trouble as they lost two wickets with just one run on the board. Esterhuizen was dismissed off the fourth ball for a duck and then Shai Hope lost his wicket in the next over. As they were in deep trouble, Dewald Brevis joined Bryce Parsons and the duo stitched up an excellent partnership of 96 runs as they consolidated the Pretoria Capitals innings. Parsons was dismissed for 30

as they lost their third wicket with the score of 98.

When Dewald Brevis reached 101*, the team score read 151 for Pretoria. It just showed how big an impact he has had and it was a lone warrior knock. Dewald Brevis scored 101 runs of just 56 balls. Brevis smashed seven sixes and eight fours in this knock and took the bowlers to the cleaners. Soon after the century he lost his wicket and Pretoria could not recover as they finished on 158/7.

Chasing a target of 158, Sunrisers Eastern Cape lost Bairstow early as they were reduced to 5/1 and the game opened up again. Pretoria Capitals were very disciplined with the ball as they picked up another wicket and did not concede a lot of runs in powerplay. The screws were on and SEC were 39/2 at the end of the powerplay. After the powerplay, the spinners from Pretoria Capitals put up a show as Chase dismissed Hermann while James Coles was dismissed by Keshav Maharaj. SEC had lost four wickets for just 48 in 8.4 overs and Pretoria Capitals were right on top.

But a terrific partnership from captain Tristan Stubbs and Matthew Breetzke brought Sunrisers Eastern Cape back in the game. They put up a partnership of more than 100 as SEC roared back into the game. It turned out to be a highly competitive game. The game went down to the wire as in the last over Sunrisers Eastern Cape needed nine runs of six balls. The last over was bowled by Parsons and Stubbs smashed the first two balls for six and virtually sealed the game. This partnership between Stubbs and Breetzke was a breath taking one and Sunrisers Eastern Cape won their third SA20 title.
