Manchester City defeated Brentford 1-0 at the GTech Community Stadium on Sunday, October 5, and it was the 250th win for their manager Pep Guardiola in the Premier League. With this vital triumph, the 54-year-old
became only the third manager in Premier League history to register 250 wins at a single club just like Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United and Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, who have now retired from the sport.
Notably, after joining Manchester City in 2016, Pep Guardiola is currently managing the club in the Premier League in the 10th straight campaign. In his 349 matches in charge of the club, the Spaniard has reached the 250-win milestone, which is 55 matches less than Sir Alex Ferguson, who needed 404 matches while Arsene Wenger had to manage his club for 423 matches to get to the big number.
Pep Guardiola also called it his honour to join Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger in illustrious list
While speaking to the media after the victory over Brentford in the Premier League away from home, Pep Guardiola acknowledged the big achievement with Manchester City, and said, as per BBC Sport, “It's an honour to be alongside Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger, I will invite them to a good dinner. It's a pleasure to be part of that in Premier League history, really pleased. Now let's go for 250 more.”
Moreover, during his managerial tenure with Manchester City, he has managed to secure them six Premier League titles in just nine attempts apart from winning four League Cups, two FA Cups, and one UEFA Champions League. In 2023, Manchester City peaked under Pep Guardiola, becoming the second club to achieve historic treble in English football after Manchester United, bringing home the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League titles.
Currently, only one other active manager has more than 250 wins in the Premier League apart from Pep Guardiola, and it’s none other than David Moyes, who has done after managing multiple clubs.
