Chelsea, who are the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Conference League winners from the previous season, have had an average start to the new campaign after winning only two matches out of the six they have played
in the Premier League. They had a four-match unbeaten streak in the English top flight. However, it came to an end with back to back defeats against Manchester United and Brighton after one of their players having received a red card in both the matches.
There is some criticism among the fans regarding the flaws of Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca and if he’s the right manager to continue the project of the club. Maresca has made more than 15 major signings since his arrival at Chelsea, however, the team's performance continues to remain inconsistent. Amid all of this uncertainty and poor form, the Chelsea board continue to have the belief in the 45-year-old and trust the Italian international to lead the Blues to glory in the PL and have an amazing run in the European competitions, as per multiple reports.
The pressure we have is the pressure of being at Chelsea, you need to win games: Enzo Maresca
The Chelsea board backed Maresca and showed full support to him during this tough phase in his Chelsea career. They have decided that any reviews regarding the change of manager will only be considered at the end of the season. Maresca is happy with Chelsea’s confidence in him and in a press conference ahead of the upcoming UEFA Champions League match against Benfica, Maresca revealed that, “The reality is there is NOT any pressure.”
The Italian further added, “The pressure we have is the pressure of being at Chelsea, you need to win games.” The 45-year-old’s focus now is to win the European fixture against Benfica, who are managed by Jose Mourinho, to bring Chelsea back to winning ways at Stamford Bridge in London.
