Nottingham Forest sacked their manager Ange Postecoglou with immediate effect just 17 minutes after losing 3-0 to Chelsea in the Premier League clash at the City Ground on Saturday, October 18. In the subsequent
hours, it is understood that the club hierarchy made contact with former Everton and Burnley manager Sean Dyche to potentially replace Ange Postecoglou in the coming days.
Notably, Ange Postecologu, who hails from Australia, was removed from the Nottingham Forest managerial role just 39 days after replacing Nuno Espirito Santo in the job in September. With that, he became the manager with the shortest permanent stint in the history of the Premier League, and it happened just a few short months after he had won the UEFA Europa League (UEL) trophy last season with Tottenham Hotspur, their first major title in 17 years.
Ange Postecoglou lost six and drew two matches during his time as Nottingham Forest manager
In the eight matches in charge of Nottingham Forest in all competitions, Ange Postecoglou oversaw six defeats and two draws, to leave them in 17th place at the time of his sacking but now they are in the bottom three of the Premier League. As per the report from BBC Sport, while Nottingham Forest have held talks with Sean Dyche for the managerial role, they are also being linked with former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini.
The official statement from the club in regards to sacking the Australia on X read, “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment at this time.” It is expected that the likes of Nick Montgomery, Mile Jedinak, and Sergio Raimundo, who were part of Ange Postecoglou’s staff, will also leave the club.
The news about sacking the Australian was given to the man himself by a senior Nottingham Forest officer rather than their owner Evangelos Marinakis.
