A new update has come up regarding the Asia Cup trophy which is under the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi’s possession. On September 28, India beat their
arch-rivals Pakistan by five wickets in the Asia Cup 2025 final held in Dubai. However, the Men in Blue, under Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy, refused to accept the coveted trophy and champion medals from Naqvi acting as the ACC top boss. Naqvi took the trophy and medals with him and this incident grabbed a lot of eyeballs. Naqvi, after criticism, didn’t relent and stated that Team India can collect the trophy from the ACC office in Dubai.
However, as per ANI sources, Mohsin Naqvihas now shifted the trophy from the ACC office to some anonymous place in Abu Dhabi. Earlier, on October 23, a BCCI source revealed to India Today that the board will raise the issue in the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting, which is scheduled to take place from December 4 to 7.
BCCI berated Mohsin Naqvi’s act at ACC AGM Meet on September 30
Earlier, on September 30, BCCI criticised Naqvi's conduct in the ACC Annual General Meeting (AGM). The board claimed that the Asia Cup trophy belongs to India and it should be handed to the champion side led by Suryakumar Yadav. BCCI received support from Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), who advised Naqvi to release the trophy.
Amidst the standoff, another report came out in Pakistan and it was asserted that Naqvi is ready to change his stance by conducting the official trophy handover ceremony on November 10. However, the current developments indicate that the matter is expected to go ahead.
