Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner winning their respective semis to set another finals. In the first semi-final between Alexander Zverev. A cramping Carlos Alcaraz had to draw on every physical and mental reserve to come back and beat Alexander Zverev to reach a first Australian Open final.
Carlos Alcaraz won the match 6-4 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 (3-7) 6-7 (4-7) 7-5 after an enthralling five hours and 27 minutes – but the score line barely hints at the drama that happened in Melbourne. Carlos Alcaraz won the first two sets and then in the third set he started getting cramps. For an hour or so, Alcaraz could not move well due to the cramps and Zverev took advantage of it and won the third and fourth set.
In the fifth set, Alexander Zverev broke Carlos Alcaraz early and maintained the lead. He was serving for the match at 5-4 only to be broken back by Alcaraz. The Spanish superstar won the next three games to clinch the set 7-5 and reach the Final of the Australian Open.
The second semi-final between 10-time Australian Open champion and 24 time grand slam champion take on defending champion of Australian Open, Jannik Sinner. Before the match the entire media and everyone wrote of the 38-year-old and it was supposedly going to be straight sets win for Jannik Sinner. But one of the most important thing sport teaches us is never write off the great players and Djokovic showed just that. He lost the first set 3-6 but bounced back to win the second set 6-4.
In the third set, Jannik Sinner once again looked good to clinch the set. The fourth set saw Djokovic win 6-4. The pendulum was swinging and it was an excellent game. Novak Djokovic won the fifth and the deciding set to beat Jannik Sinner 3-6 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-4 to reach the Final of the Australian Open 2026. The Final of the Australian Open will be played on Sunday with Carlos Alcaraz taking on Novak Djokovic.
