Former India cricketer Mithun Manhas, who was a stalwart of the Indian domestic circuit, is all set to become the new President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The 45-year-old, who hails from Jammu, is poised to take the leadership role without Indian cap from Roger Binny, who recently ended his tenure after turning 70 in July 2025.
On Sunday, September 21, the 45-year-old unexpectedly grabbed limelight after becoming the front-runner to assume the position after a meeting between the BCCI adminstrators in New Delhi, which was held on Saturday, Sepetmber 20. Speaking of the 45-year-old, Manhas served in the role of an all-rounder, batting right-handed in the middle order and providing additional bowling options with his offbreak. While he made his professional debut in 1997-98, he was unable to establish himself in the Indian circuit. His best domestic season came in 2007-08 where he led Delhi to Ranji Trophy triumph.
During his professional cricketing career, Manhas participated in 157 first-class games, scoring 9714 runs at an average of over 45 where he hit 27 hundreds. He scored 8554 runs in 206 Ranji Trophy innings. In addition, he has participated in 91 T20 matches for Delhi, scoring 1170 runs; and 130 List A games, scoring 4126 runs.
The 45-year-old has also played the Indian Premier League (IPL) between 2008 to 2014 where he featured with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), now-defunct Pune Warriors and the Chennai Super Kings.
