Team Indiawicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant grabbed a lot of eyeballs during India A’s match against South Africa A in Bengaluru. Pant made a comeback in competitive cricket after three months with his
ongoing India A game. The 28-year-old is the skipper of the team, which includes international players Devdutt Padikkal and Khaleel Ahmed. During the fourth Test between India and England in Manchester, Pant’s toe got fractured while playing an unconventional shot against Chris Woakes. The injury ruled him out from international cricket for months.
However, with his competitive game appearance against South Africa A, Rishabh Pant brought cheers to the faces of his fans. During the match, he was also seen wearing legend Virat Kohli’s number 18 jersey. This year, Kohli retired from Test cricket and with the legend’s move, his number 18 jersey is also getting missed in the longest form of the sport. Before Pant, pacer Mukesh Kumar also hit the headlines for wearing the number 18 jersey for India A against England Lions before the start of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The speedster also got trolled for it.
Rishabh Pant expected to be part of India’s Test team to host South Africa for two Tests
India will host South Africa for two Tests to be played between November 14 and 26. Pant is expected to be a part of the side as he has now regained complete fitness. During the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, the star wicket-keeper batter looked superb with his bat and notched up 479 runs with two hundreds and three fifties in seven innings of four matches.
He will be expected to continue his brilliant form in the home series against the Proteas as well. Discussing his Test numbers against South Africa, he has amassed 186 runs in six innings of three matches.
