Cristiano Ronaldo, the former Manchester United player, widely heralded as the club legend, spoke about how his ex-team “are not in a good path” in his honest assessment about them while speaking to Piers
Morgan in an exclusive interview released recently. The 40-year-old also spoke about his former Portuguese teammate and current Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, stating that while he is doing his best with the club, nobody should expect miracles from him.
In part one of the interview released a few days ago, Cristiano Ronaldo, who won nine trophies with Manchester United across his two stints, was quoted as saying, as per BBC Sport, “He (Ruben Amorim) is doing his best. What are you going to do? Miracles? Miracles is impossible. We say in Portugal, 'miracles is only in Fatima', and he's not going to do miracles. Manchester United is still in my heart. I love that club. But we have all to be honest and look for ourselves and say, 'listen, they are not in a good path'. So, they need to change and it's not only about the coach and players, in my opinion.”
During his press conference ahead of the Premier League weekend clash against Tottenham Hotspur in two days time on Saturday, November 8, Ruben Amorim gave his response to the comments from Cristiano Ronaldo. He said, “Of course, he knows he has huge impact on everything he says. But what we need to focus on is in future. We know as a club we made a lot of mistakes in the past. We are trying to change that.”
We need to focus on the future. Let’s focus on the way we are doing things: Ruben Amorim
“Let’s not focus on what happened. We need to focus on the future. Let’s focus on the way we are doing things. We are changing a lot of things, the structure, the way we want the players to behave, we are improving. Let’s forget a little bit the past,” added the Manchester United boss. Moreover, the Red Devils are currently in eighth place in the Premier League standings with five wins and two draws in 10 matches, behind Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea on goal difference.
With no other competition except Premier League for Manchester United to worry about, they can prepare that much better for the top flight matches from now until the end of the year.
