Zealand on a slow pitch in Dunedin. At one point Pakistan were 32 for 8 and in danger of setting the record for the lowest ODI total. No. 11 Rumman Raees was their top scorer with 16. The 183-run win clinched the five-match series for New Zealand.
New Zealand, batting first lost Guptill early but Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson scored half centuries which helped New Zealand post a target of 257, with their innings boosted by 11 off the final over before Boult was dismissed on the last ball. Rumman Raees and Hasan Ali picked up three wickets each. At the halfway mark it looked like a below par total even with the pitch playing two paced and helping bowlers.
Chasing a target of 257, Boult rocked Pakistan with three wickets in five balls to take out the cream of their top order on his way to figures of five for 17. A withering spell by Trent Boult saw New Zealand destroy Pakistan by 183 runs in the third one-day international to comfortably wrap up the series in Dunedin. Trent Boult was the player of the match as he broke the back of the chase early and it was one of his most memorable spell. After those unplayable overs, Pakistan were all out for 74 in the 28th over to give New Zealand an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. Williamson who scored 73 runs in the first innings also played a key role in this victory.
