November 2, 2025 will be etched in the Indian women’s cricket team’s history as on that day, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian women lifted their maiden ODI World Cup. The hosts defeated South Africa Women
by 52 runs to lift the CWC 2025 title at DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
While their were tears of joy, jubilation and pride across with millions hailing the Indian team, several Indian cricketers also took to social media to congratulate their women’s counterparts for this historic moment. The members of the Indian cricket board sent out wishes to the Indian women’s team, the men’s cricketers also could not hold back their emotions.
Virat Kohli’s post for India Women garners close to 10 million after CWC 2025 win
Among them was veteran Indian batter and former skipper Virat Kohli, who also went out loud hailing the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side. Soon after the winning moment, Kohli took to his Instagram handle to congratulate the girls while adding that he could not have been more proud of this moment. "The girls have created history and I couldn’t be more proud as an Indian to see the hard work of so many years come to life finally. They deserve all the applause and a big congratulations to Harman and the whole team for achieving this historic feat. Also congratulations to the whole squad and the management for the work behind the scenes,”Kohli wrote.
“Well done india. Enjoy the moment to the fullest. This will inspire generations of girls to take up the sport in our country. Jai hind," he added. Just hours after his post went viral and at the time of writing had garnered close to 10 million likes. On the other hand, close to an hour later, Kohli took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to further extend his joy.
