Multan Sultansco-owner Ali Khan Tareen displayed his rebellious side after being handed a legal notice which threatened to cancel the 2020/21 PSL champion side’s contract. He got the notice following the repeated criticism of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) management. Taking to X, Tareen dropped a clip in which he can be seen tearing the legal notice and defying the PCB. Earlier, Tareen censured the current PCB leadership for its handling of the league and its intolerance for dissent from owners.
In the clip, Tareen can be seen reading the notice and replying to it. He also refused to apologise for his comments. “Everything that I have said against the PSL management, if I don’t take it back and don’t make a public apology to the PSL management, then
they will cancel our Multan Sultans franchise agreement and blacklist me from the PSL forever so that I can never play again. Look, this is exactly what you don’t want — that you work with your stakeholders. You just want us all to sit quietly and do your life. You are so used to having yes-men and minions that you cannot tolerate even a little criticism,” said Tareen.
Ali KhanTareen also criticised PCB during PSL 2025
Ali Khan Tareen also hit the headlines for his criticism for PCB during PSL 2025. “How is PSL 10 bigger and better? Same games, same teams – what’s new? Fed up with hollow words. PCB had time to plan innovations, but we’re repeating last year. Our biggest brand deserves more. Explain the vision!” added Tareen.
As per PCB sources, Tareen’s remarks have caused damage to the league’s reputation. According to the PSL policy Tareen, with his constant criticism, has also contravened the terms of the agreement.
