Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur was felicitated at Velammal Nexus School in Chennai on Thursday, November 13. Kaur recently led the Indian Women’s Cricket team to their first–ever ICC title as they won
the Women’s ODI World Cup at home. The Women in Blue defeated South Africa Women by 52 runs in the final at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on November 2.
Harmanpreet Kaur has now joined the list of elite captains who guided India to a World Cup glory which include Kapil Dev (ODI World Cup), MS Dhoni (ODI World Cup and T20 World Cup) and Rohit Sharma (T20 World Cup). Most importantly, Harmanpreet won the title in what is being looked at her last ODI World Cup for the Indian Women’s team.

A few days after the historic World Cup, Harmanpreet Kaur reached Chennai where she was felicitated at a school for achieving the magnificent feat. Firstly, she received a grand welcome in Chennai after which she reached the Velammal Nexus School on Thursday, November 13. During her visit to school, Harmanpreet also inspired the young girls with her words.

The Indian captain also asked about her favourite cricketer from Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni and Harmanpreet chose Dhoni. She also called former cricketer Virender Sehwag as her biggest inspiration and named Test cricket as her favourite format of the game.
"It is good to see that now people only talk about cricket without comparing (men's and women's cricket). Now everyone enjoys and the viewership is high, stadiums are full, it is a proud moment," said Harmanpreet during an event as quoted by Free Press Journal.
