The Men’s Asia Cup 2025 is underway in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with each of the eight teams having played atleast one game thus far. After six matches in the 20-day tournament, the day has finally come where India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in their Group A clash on Sunday, September 14 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
While the Men in Blue are coming into the fixture after a thumping nine-wicket win over UAE, which saw them chase the mere 58-run target in 4.3 overs. Pakistan, on the other hand are also coming after 93-run win over Oman in their tournament opener. As the two teams are set to take the field later on Sunday evening, there remains a cloud of uncertainty over the match amid the ongoing cross-border
tensions following the Pahalgam terror attacks.
What will happen if India boycott Pakistan match in Asia Cup 2025?
It is to be noted that several former Indian cricketers have time and again spoken of Team India refraining to play Pakistan, but members of the Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) have repeatedly spoken of playing Pakistan atleast in ICC and ACC events as per the cricketing rules and regulations. Moreover the Indian government has also put forth their stance on the Indian team playing Pakistan in multinational tournaments, but have denied any bilateral series.
Furthermore, if the Indian team decides to not play Pakistan in the Super 4s, if they qualify, the scenarios will remain the same. However, if both teams qualify for the final and India then decides to not play their arch-rivals, Pakistan will be declared the winners as part of the ACC regulations.
