India prodigyVaibhav Suryavanshihas broken into record books as a batter who clobbered the most number of sixes in YODIs. He shattered the record of Unmukt Chand to become the owner of the new milestone.
Unmukt, during his junior days, smashed 38 maximums in 21 YODIs. In the ongoing second YODI getting played between India U-19 and Australia U-19 in Brisbane, Suryavanshi looked confident and took Australia’s bowling attack to the cleaners. Batting first, India U-19 captain Ayush Mhatre lost his wicket early but Suryavanshi stood at the crease and played a fine knock of 70 off 68.
During his innings, he played six strokes which went out of the park. After the fourth maximum, he shattered Unmukt’s record. The 14-year-old took just 10 innings to become the owner of the latest feat. Suryavanshi’s knock came to an end in the 19th over as leg-spinner Yash Deshmukh got him caught at the hands of Aryan Sharma, who took a screamer to dismiss the southpaw.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi's achievements in competitive cricket
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has recorded several feats to his name in his career. In January 2024, at the age of 12, he became the youngest debutant in the history of cricket with his First-Class appearance for Bihar against Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy. This year, the left-handed batter also racked up 143 off 78 against England U-19 in Worcester.
During his spectacular innings, he reached his hundred in just 52 balls, which made him the player with the fastest YODI ton. This year, Suryavanshi also became the second-fastest centurion in IPL, hammering a 33-ball hundred for Rajasthan Royals (RR) against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
