The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have dedicated a social media post for rain-affected people in Kolkata. The heavy rainfall on September 21 and 22 debilitated the City
of Joy. 10 people lost their lives and the iconic city also came to a standstill. Streets are waterlogged due to excessive rainfall while transportation services have also been impacted. Kolkata is getting ready to celebrate the festival of Durga Puja but heavy showers have concerned organisers and folks of the city who were keen to witness the festival. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy-rainfall alert for September 25 as well.
Amidst these developments, KKR, who represent the city in IPL, took to X and dropped a picture which displayed the message “Stay Safe Kolkata.” The post also contained a caption which read, “Our thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by the heavy rains, sending strength to all to help tackle this tough time.”
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) performance in IPL 2025
KKR landed in IPL2025 as defending champions but under Ajinkya Rahane’s leadership, the three-time title-winners looked ordinary. With five wins and seven losses, Kolkata failed to qualify for the playoffs and concluded their campaign in the eighth spot on the points table.
In the upcoming months, IPL 2026 auction is highly likely to take place and the franchise is expected to do reforms in the side to get the desired results next year. The team will look to drop ineffective players and pick up some new names who have been scintillating in recent times. With three trophy wins, Kolkata are in third place on the chart of teams with most IPL title wins.
