Sri Lanka are scheduled to face Pakistan in the Super 4s clash of Asia Cup 2025 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on September 23. It is an important match for both the teams who already lost one game
each and the team losing this match will almost be out of the race for the finals. However, a few hours before the match, the Sri Lankan cricket team received a big setback as their star pacer Matheesha Pathirana will nor be seen taking the field in a match against Pakistan.
The Sri Lankan Cricket board shared a post on their social media handles where they confirmed that Matheesha Pathirana is unwell and will not be available for the selection in the upcoming match against Pakistan. The Sri Lankan board also confirmed that Pathirana didn’t feature in practice from the last two days.
“Matheesha Pathirana is unwell and will not be available for selection for today’s game against Pakistan. He did not take part in team practice sessions during the last two days and is currently under medical treatment,” Sri Lankan Cricket board wrote on social media.
Do-or-die game for Sri Lanka and Pakistan
It is going to be an exciting game between Sri Lanka and Pakistan as they take on each other in the upcoming Super 4s clash of Asia Cup 2025 in Abu Dhabi. Sri Lanka, who were coming after three consecutive wins in the group stage, suffered a close defeat against Bangladesh as Litton Das-le side chased the target of 169 runs with just one ball remaining in the match.
On the other hand, Pakistan are also coming after suffering a tough defeat against the arch-rivals India in the Super fours by six wickets. Now, both the teams will look to register a big win in the upcoming match and keep their chances alive for the final.
